ABOUT THIS PROJECT
This beautiful home, nestled in the heart of Edina is the epitome of juxtaposition and has been dubbed "tuxedo farmhouse". We were thrilled to have partnered with Carl M. Hansen for 2017’s Artisan Home Tour and hope you had a chance to experience this space. Savant takes center stage, controlling audio throughout the home (featuring Sonance speakers and Band Pass Subwoofers strategically hidden) both inside and out, lighting control, motorized shades, Phantom Screens keep the mosquitos at bay while enjoying a movie in front of a fire. Integration of garage doors, security & surveillance, distributed video throughout the home, garage and outdoor spaces as well as a turntable when the host of the party want’s to go “old school” and break out the vinyl. An enterprise class network handles wi-fi traffic amongst the portable devices used to control the entire system, whether home or away. If you missed the opportunity to visit this home, we hope you enjoy a photographic tour of this incredible project.

PROJECT 2: CAPE INSPIRED
ABOUT THIS PROJECT
Featured in 2013’s Luxury Home Tour, AVID designed a system with an eye on the future and an ability to update very simply as new technologies emerged. Remember: 4K was very new, prohibitively expensive and provided so little content, it wasn’t even considered an option in homes back then. Now however, through thoughtful and modular design, we’re able to upgrade to 4K without needing to replace an entire system. AVID introduced RGB LED lighting in the media room to allow for indirect lighting during movies or special events (Purple Ceilings for a Vikings game? No problem!). Motorized window treatments turn day to night in an instant and offer passive heating and cooling as a corollary benefit. Lighting throughout the home is controlled manually though intuitive keypads, strategically located in whole home audio inside and out, video distribution, garage door control, surveillance & security rivaling Fort Knox featuring windows which notify whether a window is locked, unlocked or left open. Savant is at the helm offering intuitive control of all services with remote feeds of cameras at the cabin as well.

ABOUT THIS PROJECT
The standout in 2016’s Fall Parade of Homes offers an expansive open floor plan which suits it well for entertaining or relaxing with family and friends. AVID paid particular attention to providing an immersive audio experience, by placing speakers and subwoofers throughout the entire space, in an effort to mitigate the need to turn the volume up, just to hear it at all. 8 Sonance Speakers and 2 Subwoofers fill the Kitchen, Dining and Gathering room which broadcasts audio, similar to the way lights are dispersed throughout a space, creating an experience in which a conversation can be had directly underneath a speaker, without being distracting or overpowering. As you move throughout the space, you quickly realize how subtle the effect is while at the same time how powerful the effect is as a whole. The same design philosophy is presented in the outdoor spaces as well. In the front patio, an array of 4 speakers and 1 subwoofer fill the entire space with music while the back yard grilling area offers 8 speakers, 1 subwoofer to compliment a Seura weatherproof television. The pool offers yet another Seura for viewing with an array of 12 speakers and 2 subwoofers to fill the entire space. These spaces acting much in the same way as the interior, in which no matter where you may be sitting or standing, music is still present but, not overwhelming.
